The design team took cues from traditional Japanese residences, where the spatial relationship between the interior and the exterior is not as clear-cut as in Western classical architectures. Utilizing the grille, glass, and landscapes in the courtyard, the team created a series of grey spaces that blur the boundaries between the interior of the residence and the outdoor street. This visual and spatial separation allows the elegant living scenes to be both independent and integrated, forming a space rich in substance.
Influenced by traditional aesthetics such as Zen and tea ceremony, the design team opted for natural materials and accentuated their properties and textures. The textile selection also favored unadorned and pure fabrics with original colors, reflecting the simplicity and purity of traditional Japanese residences. The Santacove project, spanning 220 square meters, is a testament to minimalistic yet rich Japanese-style residential design.
Decorative objects reflecting the unique Japanese aesthetic style, such as dry landscape courtyards, Ukiyoe-like Mount Fuji paintings, iron teapots, stone-like vases, dead branches, and plants, and simple and elegant floral art, are scattered throughout the space. These elements, plain and pure, create a contrast of natural atmosphere and Zen culture, reflecting the designer's accurate control of Japanese-style aesthetics.
The design team faced the challenge of creating a spacious, open, yet quiet and private spatial structure in a bare roughcast house. They aimed to construct a cultured living space full of life and form an aesthetic ambiance. By emphasizing the openness and natural integration of architecture, the designers successfully created a dwelling space that integrates nature, humanity, and spirit.
The Santacove project is a testament to Link Life's commitment to innovative design that respects traditional aesthetics while meeting the needs of contemporary life. The design adjusts to the visual and emotional demands of people and realizes the spiritual pleasure and transition of nature. Located in Shunde District, Foshan, Guangdong Province, China, this award-winning project is a shining example of Link Life's design prowess.
